Hello all,

I am new to these forums. I am having trouble with a slow running Macbook Air using Mavericks. I saw that my kernel_tasks were running high (1.5-1.7 GB) so I ran an EtreCheck. I'll post the results below.

I see that EtreCheck recommends deleting kernel extensions and failed launch daemons and agents. Can someone explain to me how to do this? Also are there other aspects of the Etrecheck results that I should try to fix in my system in order to have it run more efficiently?

Thank you,

EtreCheck version: 1.9.12 (48)

He also writes (emphasis added) "Finally, it is important to use the official, vendor-provided uninstaller or uninstallation instructions to remove this low-level software. Simply deleting files may leave your system in a worse state than when you started."

Use the applicable instructions provided by the vendors of each of the non-Apple system modifications you installed, and there are many installed on that Mac. Here is one example:

See the short video that appears under the heading "Learn how to uninstall Soundflower". It's simple. You can always re-install Soundflower if removing it does not result in improvement.

Repeat for each non-Apple system modification, extension, Internet plug-in, launch daemon, launch agent, etc. This includes Google Chrome and its plethora of "helpers" that run poorly on Apple products. Confirm their respective deletions from your system, and test your Mac after properly deleting each one. Back up your system prior to making any modifications.

Never search Google for a solution. Most Google search results will lead you to installing a catch-all "cleaning" or "zapping" utility that will result in certain misery.

If you need specific instructions regarding other products, write back.
