Uninstalling Mono on Mac OS X

I have Mono installed as it is being used by the Suunto DM4 programme. I have problems with running the Suunto DM4 application and Suunto suggested removing Mono and reinstalling it.

On http://www.mono-project.com/Mono:OSX#Uninstalling_Mono_on_Mac_OS_X I found instructions as to how to do it. There is a script to be run in Terminal.

It states: This script removes Mono from an OS X System. It must be run as root

I am not sure what they mean, should I log on as root in Terminal (log on as sudo – s? Or should I start the machine as root and next run the terminal command? I suspect the first but want to make 100% sure before I do.
