Lost Unzipped Files

In that case I recommend using EasyFind - it's in the App Store. Don't download it from anywhere else.

If EasyFind is not available in the App Store for your country, write back for other suggestions.

Unless you have a compelling reason to use a non-Apple utility to unzip files, just open the .zip file using OS X's default actions for such files.

Copy the .zip file attachment to the Desktop, then control-click and from the contextual menu that appears, select Open With > Archive Utility.

I have no idea what "the unarchiver app" will do that can possibly convey any advantages.

A simple double-click will unzip most .zip/.gzip items into their current folder location. The unarchiver utility, in addition to these formats, is also a multi-tool for many other compressed formats.

Unless the OP changed OS X's default file associations, which is the reason I composed my reply as I did.

Your Downloads folder is hidden. So is your Desktop folder. So is Music. So are lots of other things, if I had to guess.

That's not right.

You ought to start a new Discussion asking how to fix that, since something caused that to happen and it's likely to happen again.

Search for one by name (Spotlight), all the others will be in the same folder.

Then I have no idea what you did if spotlight can't find them, good luck.

You can use EasyFind to delete the duplicates, but do so judiciously.
