I can't seem to move or delete any QuickTime video files?

I can't seem to move or delete any QuickTime video files from my laptop. The "moving 1 item" or "copying 1 item" status window just hangs on the screen for hours and nothing happens. It doesn't work regardless of whether I try to move multiple items or 1 at a time. I really need them off my laptop as I'm running out of hard drive space. I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop and use Windows Vista?
