i want to give a friend one of my PowerBook G4 computers. It is currently running Tiger 10.4 and I want to delete all personal content before I pass it on. I do not have an install disc, so I am not sure on how to accomplish a clean wipe without deleting the OS. Any help would be appreciated.
You need an install disk; this can either be a compatible retail install DVD or the computer's original disks, which may be available by phoning AppleCare and ordering them.

This obsolete laptop can take a Leopard install, but I do not have discs. I do have another PB G4 running Leopard and a FireWire cable. Can I delete the OS from the giveaway and re-install Leopard from the donor via FireWire?
Yes, but you shouldn't; the new owner may need a disk in the event of trouble with the computer.

Is there a guide as to the procedure to do the FW load?
Connect them with a FireWire cable, restart that computer with the T key held down, use the Disk Utility to erase the first computer's internal drive, and then clone an OS to it with the Disk Utility or a product such as Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper.
