Sold my Macbook Air to my daughter. How does she load OSx Mavericks after erasing the HD? Get the message that we must use the Apple ID that was used to purchase Mavericks? I can do that except then the machine has my Apple ID not hers.
Install an older OS on that computer and then upgrade it, or have her download Mavericks on a different compatible one. If needed, restart the computer with the Option, Command, and R keys held down.

I have erased the HD. She can't go any further with the reload because she has not purchased any OS.
Even if the drive has been erased, the computer can still be started up into Apple's Internet Recovery system or to a Mac OS X install disk depending on which model it is.

It would only let me download the OS using my Apple ID. So I've just reloaded Mavericks, so perhaps the better question is how can I change the apple ID from mine to my daughter's. Is that making any sense?
She can use this: OS X Recovery Disk Assistant v1.0 without the need for an Apple ID.
The only way is the sign out of your Apple ID on all parts of the computer is to go through all of the apps (App Store, iCloud, iTunes, etc.).
Did the machine initialy come with Mavericks or with an older OS? Also what is the model number of the Air?
You cannot change the Apple ID from the purchaser you will need to go back to the original OS and then your daughter can upgrade to Mavericks.
