The A1379 is not exclusively compatible with MacBook Airs. I've used it successfully on my MacBook Pro A1502, as well as with a ThinkPad T430 Windows laptop. The post above yours already states that Superdrives are compatible with more than just the MacBook Air line. The original post said nothing about which model Mac they're using, so we can't confirm that the issue is an incompatible Mac model, but i'd say the best course of action for lalitsharma_PB at the moment is the plist edit mentioned in the first comment. I've been amazed how much can be done in Mac OS with plist edits, and this sounds to me like a likely solution

Do you have one of the MacBook Pro models listed below:

Compatible with the following computers:

  • MacBook Pro with Retina display
  • MacBook Air
  • iMac (late 2012) and later
  • Mac mini (late 2009) and later
  • Mac Pro (late 2013) ?

...the Apple USB SuperDrive will only work with these models (but can be made to work with other models with a slight change to a specific plist -> http://www.hardturm.ch/luz/2011/10/how-to-make-the-macbook-air-superdrive-work-w ith-any-mac/).
