Videos don't load with airplay

Videos don't load with airplay. The TV screen simply shows the spinning gear. It will run with mirroring but not directly. how can I get the videos to play?

thanks

Yes, I have done al that. When I select AppleTV from the iPad, the pad goes dark and give me the "This Video is playing on Apple TV" but the gear just spins as if it's loading/buffering. When I turn airplay back to iPad, the video plays immediately. Back to TV, spinning gear.

If I use mirroring, it plays fine but because the monitor's resolution doesn't match the TV screen, I see the browser window (because it's mirroring). So they're 'talking to each other' but not directly.

I can stream other videos, i.e., Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, with no problem. It's just two this morning that couldn't do it, and one was on YouTube. My software is up to date and the wi-fi network is strong, the iPad is in the same room as the router and I get 20 megs download consistently.

To AirPlay video or photo content to your Apple TV

1. Connect your iOS device and Apple TV to the same Wi-Fi network.

2. Open the Videos, Safari or Photos app on your device.

3. Locate and tap the AirPlay icon on screen or Control Center.

4. Select your Apple TV from the list of available devices that appears and begin playback.

Note: Item 1 is very important
