Q: Could This (new discussion format) Be Any Worse?

I've been participating in the Apple support forums for a good many years. They have been very useful and I've supplied a number of useful support answers. But now it's pretty much all gone. It's very difficult to find specific things and it's now impossible to see, at a glance, how many people have both viewed and replied to individual threads. That's critical for identifying big issues--especially those that accompany a signficiant operating system upgrade. Further, the text is so large that much less information can be displayed on a computer display. Finally, when you go to Apple Support your display is completely taken up by big square blocks--can you say "Windows R/T?" I guess all good things come to an end.

The best that Apple Discussions ever was was two changes ago. The previous iteration was tolerable even though it was confusing for newbies.

I wouldn't get too upset. Monday or Tuesday we'll wake up and realize it's all been just a bad dream.

You may find Firefox the better browser.   Logging in and out is one click, unless you park a spare screen in the dock.   In which case you often stay logged in.

Moreover, the Safari menu > Zoom out exercise is also unnecessary.   My Firefox Communities screen fits my 20" Mac as well as it ever did.

    7 1,

I am an avid FF fan and use it exclusively. There very infrequent occasions when sitePage display or Jscript anomalies occur in FF but not Safari. Go figger.

RE: Zoom... I find I must zoom out at least one level on my Pismo 4:3 screen (leaves only slight bottom scrollBar - 2 zooms eliminates bottom scrollBar but is starting to get smaller than my poor old eyes can deal with) My external 16:9 is just fine as default Zoom (could almost stand a zoom IN - but that is just the white space = 90 pixels left/right & 40 pixels 'between post bounding boxes')

Best for last = Logging (whatever)... Your experience is not mine. Closing FF (or Safari) logs me out. Leaving a Tab with ASC content open times out when browsing elsewhere or idle. I have yet to try Docking a window,  as it Tab open fails why would a window be any different (but I will try it anyway)

RE: one click login,  not really sure what you mean, but I have a BrowserBookmark of Login page in front of an authored post of mine that is hot(to me anyway) in Quicktime. not quite one click but close. I must use my fading memory and judgement as to what my ActionPlan will be when visiting here.

    The beat goes on...

The thread didn't branch. Branched to a new discussion now takes you to all the deleted posts you aren't allowed to see.

So do you think we'll find that the format has been reverted, or otherwise drastically improved?

I have been using the Chitlins in Wonderland metaphor... curioser and curioser. Was Alice dreaming? Or did she really follow the White Rabbit down the bunny hole?

I was told that the deleted posts are only observable by Hosts. Higher levels (forget what #) have a "MVP Lounge" too.

Unfortunately I don't have the gift of Future Vision so so I can't say what will happen monday and don't want to mislead anybody. Even if it doesn't change i'm not going to let it get me upset. I'll help the people i can help and take satisfaction in knowing I helped.

Of course not, but if that's where the gods (or devils) view things then it's fubar that it's labelled "Branched to a new discussion".

It's called wishful thinking. I haven't seen everybody's griping accomplish anything.
