can a late 2013 iMac run mountain lion

Our company bought a 27 inch late 2013 iMac (model identifier iMac14,2) that came with Mavericks preinstalled. Wondering if it can run Mountain Lion because of software incompatibilities.

Well here are the system requirements that you will need to have these

  • iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
  • MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
  • MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
  • Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
  • Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
  • Xserve (Early 2009)

So yes it should run on your iMac

I suspected that was the case. I suppose I could partition the hd and try installing mountain lion on a partition and see how that goes. Thanks.

That will not work, however you can get a virtualization app like Parallels or Fusion and run ML that way. That is the only way it will work. However the right thing is to upgrade or replace the apps that do not run in Mavericks.
