Lots of people want to know how to deal with duplicates, but I want to know how to duplicate a card. And this makes sense; one of my clients has much info in his card; all I want is to duplicate the card and change the name to another person at the same company.
Don't see how, though?
I'm on 10.9.3, and the latest iOS.
Thanks for this. I agree with Michael Spencer, it isn't very convenient to do it this way. I just want to add an additional contact who is at the same organization as another. I think it will be faster just to re-enter the information. I thought in the past that I was able to do the "copy and paste" thing, but that doesn't seem to be possible now.

I'm not sure about 10.8.5, but in 10.9 Contacts does copy & paste, 10.6 (Address Book) also does it so I think it may have been 10.7 that overhauled the app & left that feature out.
You can give Apple feedback if you like, but I doubt they care enough to resolve it now 10.10 is imminent.
OK, that works. But is that clunky or what?
I have tried this, as well as using the drop down edit menu, and still can't get it to work.

You could try using the export feature. 'File > Export > Export vCard'.
Double click that to re-import it which may ask you about merging or making a duplicate.
If that fails to work try opening the vCard in a text editor (TextEdit will be OK). There could be an 'address book ID' that may need deleting to cause Address book to allow the duplicate (I'm on 10.9 so I can't test this bit). I'd delete the line that starts with 'X-ABUID:…' and try reimporting.
On OS X select a contact in the list and use copy & paste 🙂
