External Hard Drive not recognize after not ejecting properly

i have Macbook Pro 2011 8GB RAM, 1 TB Hard drive OSX Mavrick. i recently ejected my back up drive but it was not a properly ejected now when i plug in the computer it doesnt come up as hard drive. it shows up in the disk utlity but it doesnt open any one know how to solve this issue please its my backup drive and i dont want to loose m data

1. press command + space (or click on your spotlight search button near the top right corner)
2. Search and Open Disk Utility
3. Plug in your external drive
4. Click on the drive in the left panel

5. Click the repair button near the bottom right of the window

6. Wait for the disk to be verified and repaired

7. Eject the external drive

8. Unplug and replug the drive back in and then see if it is then accessible.

9. If still not accessible repeat steps 2-4 then hit the mount button in the toolbar of the window. It will be in between the burn and the eject button.
