Q: G5 after Logic Board replacement
I replaced the board in my G5 I got from ebay. Never did this before but I also repasted the processors. It is a Dual 1.8GHz.
I reinstalled the OSX and already had the 10.5.6 ready to upgrade. I have a 1TB HD that I should have used for the OS but I can just slap that in as an extra HD. Not sure if the computer would be better off with the large HD in place of the 80GB it came with.
Even so I no too have to dreaded high speed fan noise. I can't stop it and when I was in the(forgets name) menu trying to erase the old username and password it kept saying it was overheating but I know it isn't and that it was just an error. It runs with cold air coming out the back so this is why I do not buy it. I would guess that is just an faulty error due to a new board being put on. I honestly can't even recall the Ambient Board so after reading about it I am going straight home to see if I left it on the old board. I just don't think I did but I remember putting on the little board right above the RAM but it was on the logic board not to the front of it.
With all that I still need to re-calibrate the sensor since I put in a new board and re-set the processors. Like everyone else I cannot locate the software for it. The fact it is not readily available is so dumb. I only know it is a Dual 1.8GHz Powermac G5 from maybe 2005ish. I do not know or think actually that there was 2 different Dual 1.8GHz G5's.
Anyone who can help out besides telling me to go to a dealer would be great. If there is no help that *****. I thought I saw Apple had some on here that we could download but my computer was not on the list.
I only have Apple Hardware Test CD but that is not able to fix my issues as far as I know. I am not home as I write this or I could try it.
Thanks in advance,
Phastroh
