What happened to AAC 320 kbps import choice?

In my iTunes 11, the CD custom import choice for AAC of 320 kbps is no longer available, only 64 kbps. Why, and how to fix this? (PC Win 7) Thanks.

Thanks for the reply. I am running 11.2.2.3, and I believe the same issue has persisted since the first ver. 11. The custom drop-down list the fiend illustrated above happens for me only if MP3 encoding is checked, but not when AAC encoding is checked! Additional strange notes: On my PC at home, the only choice available is 64 kbps, while on my work PC (also Win 7), the only choice is 320 kbps, (at least this choice is what I would want anyway OK, but still no other choices). I have tried all kinds of mouse clicking, etc., to try to get it to work right but to no avail. Nothing like this ever used to happen with good old 10.7 (but I wont go there or this will become a rant). BTW, in the Setting list, the choices are High Quality 128 kbps, iTunes Plus, Spoken Podcast, and Custom, which I believe are the standard normal choices. It is just that with AAC, no further drop-down list pops up when Custom is selected as I describe above, and I am stuck strictly with what is shown in the Details box, with no way to change it from 64 kbps at home or from 320 kbps at work. Thanks.

Chris CA, I have a PC, not an Apple..

Okay. My instructions are for Windows PC.

You don't want to mess with anything inside Libraries > Music > iTunes.

Yes the AppData folder is hidden.

Try this...

  1. Quit iTunes.
  2. Open Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer).
  3. Go to Control Panel > Folder Options.
  4. Click the View tab.
  5. Under Advanced Settings - Files and Folders, tick Show Hidden Files then click Apply.
  6. Go to c:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Apple Computer\ and drag the iTunes folder to the desktop.
  7. Start iTunes and see if it works.
  8. If not, quit iTunes & put the folder back.
  9. Go to c:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\ and drag the iTunes folder to the desktop.
  10. Start iTunes and see if it works.

Hi Chris CA. I followed your instruction except that I only dragged iTunesPref out instead of the whole iTunes folder. Back in business! Strange that this happened in both of my PCs, but now I will know how to fix. Seems like the iTunes program could be revised to fix this from happening. Anyway, Thank you very much!
