Use this as a very rough guide. Often bench test scores are not the best indicator for the real world environment. It would seem that the question you might ask is if portability is essential. Dollar for dollar, an iMac gives one more performance than a MBP.

What are you doing with the Mac? If you're word processing the speed won't make an iota of difference.

I will be doing light gaming and general every day things. I am also just curious about how the different specs impact the overall system and want to learn more about about what makes a computer faster. Given these specs, I am just curious what makes one more powerful than the other and why.
