Q: Podcast App Crashing

Itunes Podcast App keeps crashing:

 

I have:

most up-to-date software update for itunes

deleted and re-installed podcast app

synced to itunes

restarted iphone

 

additionally I have:

removed all podcasts from itunes on computer & synced

removed all podcasts from podcast app

 

Additionally:

wish I'd bought a Samsung

    Same thing here as well.  Noticed it last night.  It launches and plays stored podcasts in airplane mode but crashes when switching to wireless.

    Yeah, I'm running iOS 7.1.2 and yesterday Podcasts started crashing when I run it on my iPhone 5.  I was able to get it to stay running by going into airplane mode.  NOT HAPPY.

    I'm also having this problem.  I have an iPhone 4S, running on iOS 7.1, and I have Verizon service.  My podcast app started crashing yesterday.  It crashes about 5 seconds after launch.  Like other users, I can listen to podcasts in airplane mode, but I cannot download any new ones because the app won't work if I'm connected to wifi or cellular service.  It's very frustrating, because I use this app every day.  I have tried restarting my phone, but haven't reinstalled the app, because it seems like that didn't work for others, above.  Any tips?

    Yes.  After a few days of it working properly, the podcast app is crashing again as of last night.  Also very frustrating.  I'm AT&T and just installed 7.1.2 and it made no difference.

    Installed IOS 8.0.2 and the problem seems to be gone now.

    Thanks.   Problem seemed to have gone away here as well and I didn't install new IOS version.

    I'm noticing the same thing in that Podcasts appears to be stable again and I have not updated to iOS 8 although I did do a USB sync with iTunes when I got to work this morning.  That being said, I haven't used it enough to be sure that the crashing problem is truly fixed. 

     

    As an aside, I am curious to know what changed such that it stopped crashing given I haven't updated any software on my phone.  The only thing I've done was to USB sync with iTunes which did sync up my podcasts which I manage via iTunes.

    Don't know.  This seems to be the pattern with this problem.  It comes and goes.  And many people have the same problems at the same time, apparently.

    I think the problem is when podcasts phones home to iCloud. If it doesn't  get a good response, but still has a data connection, it crashes. Apple never sen to admit to iCloud outages, but I'd bet money on an outage there crashing the app.

    I didn't think about iCloud but the thought that something external relative to the phone had changed and was causing Podcasts to crash crossed my mind given I haven't updated either it nor iOS.  I also noticed that it usually took a couple seconds for it to crash which could have been it trying to access some remote data.  Anyway, since yesterday Podcasts has been running without crashing so I'm happier now (although Apple should fix Podcasts so it doesn't crash, period).

    This just started happening to my iPhone 4S on iOS 7.0.4 after an iTunes sync.

    Crashes at launch. Airplane mode work around doesn't work.

    Hi:

     

    I still have the  podcast app crash everytime I open it in my Ipad mini.

     

    Have tried Airplane mode, and I can listen to the ones that downloaded before, but no new podcast download.

     

    My software is up to date and everything else is fine.

     

    Need a little help here since I am an avid podcast listener.

    And just about going into the year 2015 and still not fixed. Quality at Apple has really gone downhill since Steve died. He needs to be cloned or brought back to life so quality will go up again.

    Doing this to me on my iphone 6 everytime I try to open the app.  Ridiculous.

    Just started happening to me this morning. I am so disgusted. Having trouble with every Apple product in my life–bad motherboard, bad bluetooth connections... Switching to Airplane mode did not help.
