No you didn't, not even close.

Remove the secondary drive, install Windows (using Boot Camp) on a partition on the main drive. Install from a Windows DVD not a USB stick (save that for the support software) When everything is working reinstall the storage drive.

Backup your startup drive before doing any of this.

What are the exact USB drives you're using?

As for Ks solution, I don't know why it doesn't work for you, you'd be the first where this is an issue, and all I can suggest is try the process again from the beginning, feels like it's an USB issue

what's your exact usb drive? seems like something is wrong in your process of creating the usb since you're failing with multiple sticks

4gb is too small, and while i wish you paid up for a better usb2 key, use the Dane one

can you get access to another mac, one without an optical drive? we'll try kunu differently, ignore his steps 1-5, we'll use this mac to create the usb installer for us.

the w7 iso is here, and you already have the usb key. you just need to find another mac to run boot camp assistant there and have that mac create the usb key for you.

OR if you can't get to another mac, use this ISO instead of the one in kunu's solution. see if it makes a difference.

i suggested a mac that originally shipped without an optical, because that boot camp assistant will put the iso on the usb drive for you (steps 1-5), your bootcamp assistant will not do this since your machine came with an optical drive

gl with the new iso and make sure you're not taking any shortcuts on the kunu steps except for this new iso source

ok, feels like something is wrong with your early process since its failing across so many different usb and iso while others are having success with kunu but why, no clue
