Logitech K811 Keyboard and Mavericks BT pairing

I recently bought a Logitech K811 BT lighted keyboard. I have a MBP at work that's still running Snow Leopard. I know, it's really far behind. 😝 Anyway, when I paired this keyboard with SL, it asked me to enter a 6 digit code and press enter to pair the keyboard. This keyboard is only being paired on SL to test out the keyboard. I had just unboxed it. The ultimate destination for this keyboard is for use at home on my Mac mini running Mavericks.

When I put the keyboard into pairing mode and use the Bluetooth control panel to pair it, to my surprise, Mavericks did not request entering that 6 digit code before pairing. It just paired right up with my Mac mini. Is it normal for Mavericks not to ask to enter that 6 digit code on the keyboard before pairing? It seems just a little bit insecure. Was this security measure removed from Mavericks?

Thanks.
