FireWire 400 vs USB 3.0

I have 2 external hard rives one with FireWire400 (400 to 800 cable to make compatible)and one with USB 3.0 which would be faster? I have a mid 2012 MacBook Pro I would be using them with.

I think USB3.0 is much faster than FireWire400.
