Twain bridge issue

I have an iMac that is about a year old. QSx 10.8.5, 2.9 GHz intel core i5, 24 gig memory. Running the mac for an hour or so, suddenly I am unable to launch any program, even closing an existing program will not boot up again. In the Activity Monitor TWAINbridge seems to be replicating itself to the point where there are too many Processes, so I must restart in order to reset processes back to a usable number. Anyone have any idea how to stop this from happening. I recently tried to download TWAIN for photoshop CS6, maybe that started the whole thing, I'm not sure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Finally figured it out. I own a Cannon 600 series scanner, I unplugged it, problem solved. It only took 3 apple reps and hours on the phone, a small price to pay to solve the issue. The weird part is the scanner has been plugged in the whole time I've owned the mac and it just recently started acting up. Go figure. Just glad I can move on. Thanks for responding.
