Access Time Machine backup from a different computer

My computer crashed & is in for repair. I want to get some files from my Time Machine backup on a different computer. How do I do that?

Just a WAG, but probably not doable, since, IIRC, TM backups are machine specific. However, peruse See Pondini's TM FAQs, for possible workarounds.

Try holding down the option key, then click Time Machine in the menu bar. Do you get a 'Browse Other Backup Disks' choice?
