iPod Nano 5th Gen. not recognized and turns on and off.

I have an iPod 5th Generation. I am trying to connect it to iTunes to manage my music. However, when I plug it up to my computer (or any computer, with any cord) it says "Connected" on the iPod but does not show up in iTunes. then after a while it turns off and then back on, displays the Apple logo and then the "Connected" screen again. And this process repeats.

I have checked the cord, computer, ports (on iPod and computer) what else can I try?

Also, I am trying with a MacBook.

Hello Cage583

Start with the first link below and go through all the troubleshooting steps there to get your iPod nano to show up in iTunes. If after following the steps you are still not getting it to show up, check out the second article for further assistance.

I have looked at both of these. Nothing I could find in them helped. The first one talks about restarting and switching ports, which I tried. However, the second one talks about restoring through iTunes but like I said I cannot connect to iTunes.

I appreciate the response, thank you very much! Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!
