Duplicates in contextual menu

When I right-click on a file to invoke a contextual menu, I see duplicates of apps like Preview, Safari, QuickTime. I first noticed this when I set up my new MacBook during which I transferred all my settings from my iBook. I never saw dupes when using contextual menus on my iBook. Is there a way I can remove the duplicates? Takes up a lot of space and it drives me nuts.

Your launchservices cache is all messed up. Download and run Tiger Cache Cleaner and clean out the cache files.

Or go to Hard Drive/Library/Caches and delete all the com.apple.LaunchServices files. Then restart the computer.

See my "Resetting Launch Services" FAQ.

Good luck!
