Entourage gmail send/receive error

Using gmail I cannot send/receive mail using entourage. I get server timeout error message -3529. I have not had any problem using entourage for four years - why now?

Using Mac OS 10.11, and Entourage 2008, I was unable to successfully add a Gmail account. On my iPhone, no problem. Then I noticed Google had sent a "blocked" access notice for "low security system". Following the link, I switched to allow the "low security system", which I presumed was Entourage. After that, I was able to successfully add the account. I am guessing that Google doesn't consider Entourage secure.

Here are the old instructions to connect Entourage to Gmail, however the browser settings have been changed since this was written. See the link for Outlook that has more updated info:

Connect Entourage 2004 to Gmail’s IMAP service

Connect Outlook for Mac 2011 to Gmail’s IMAP service

Set to sync every 10 min. Every two minutes will give you problems with Gmail's servers.

BTW, what version of Entourage?
