Date/Time preferences disturbed.

Hi,

Specs first: 10.5.8 Power PC G4 1 GHz 1GB SDRAM.

At start up time/date goes back to 1-1-1970/00.00.00hrs. I've set time/date automatically. Preferendec locked and saved. When I open Pref are UNLOCKED byitself. Every start up I've to set time/date manually. Other features like Airport don't connect.

Can anyone help, please, Regards,Hubert

First, try a PMU reset. Instructions: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1431

If a reset doesn't help, the PRAM or "backup battery" that powers (among other things) the internal clock is likely dead. There are replacement instructions online that can guide you if you're reasonably handy with tools:

https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/PowerBook+G4+Titanium+DVI+PRAM+Battery+Replacement/ 102

Although you can replace the entire card that holds the battery, most people replace only the battery itself. It's a 3032 li-on "coin" battery, 3.5V, that you can buy online or at camera/electronics stores.
