An error occurred while trying to save the iCloud account

On my iPhone 5S (with iOS 7.1.1) I find that the device has suddenly logged out of iCloud. I tried going to Setttings > iCloud and logging in again but I keep getting a message "An error occurred while trying to save the iCloud account". This appears after about 30 seconds of the "Verifying" message appearing when I click "Sign in".

My contacts, email and calendar which were linked to Google have also disappeared (they were working fine yesterday and no changes have been made since).

Would appreciate any pointers on how to resolve this issue? Thanks.

Try powering the device off. If that doesn't work I deleted my ICloud account, then I changed my Apple ID and waited 1-2 hours for it to sink in and then reset it (power off)

Powering off is holding the power button until an option turns up "slide to power off" and slide. Once the screen in blank (black without the spinning wheel) press the power button until the apple logo pops up then wait)

Same situation. I installed iOS 8 beta 4 on my iPhone 5 and a few days later my iCloud account disappeared. My contacts and calendar entries are gone.

My Mac Mini and MacBook do sync as they should with iCloud.

When I try to log in to iCloud on the iPhone (the username shows "example@icloud.com" and password shows "required"), I put in my username and password and tap "Sign In", It says "Verifying" at the top and after a while checkmarks appear next to my username and password. Then I get an error message saying "An error occurred while trying to save the iCloud account". If I tap OK the message goes away, leaving my username and password intact (checkmarks are now gone). If I tap "Sign In" again I get a message saying " 'myemail@myisp.com' is Already Added. This iCloud account has already been added to your iPhone". If I go back to Settings and then go into iCloud again it's not set up and appears as I stated at the beginning of this paragraph.

Nothing works and the sync does not occur. Contacts are empty and Calendar has no entries.

Almost the same to me.. My iPad air was too slow on internet and still accessing the web without any action on safari or any other app. I logged out from iCloud and the traffic goes down, the internet become normal and all ipad functions are fine. I restored the iPad but I cannot enroll it to iCloud. After fill my user and pass, the first step is validated, but I get the message "an error occurred while trying to save the icloud account". How can I enroll the iPad to iCloud again?

All other devices still working fine.
