Hey, my iPhone 5s was replaced yesterday at the genius bar because my touch ID wouldn't scan anybodies fingerprint and they replaced mine with a refurbished one. However, it is a Rogers phone (also the one i brought in) but I moved carriers and I looked up that I have to wait 90 days with an activation. My old iPhone was about 7 months old and I want to unlock the refurbished one I got for $50 at Rogers/Apple. What can I do?
Apple provided warranty replacement iPhones from an Apple genius bar will ALWAYS be locked to the carrier the donor iPhone is locked to
Apple have no authority to unlock or by default replace with an unlocked iPhone
Only the Carrier ,in this case Rogers, can approve the unlocking and process the unlocking
So if I go into Rogers or Apple with my refurbished iPhone will they still unlock it? Because I dont't know if it's eligible because the iPhone is only one day old.
Apple do NOT unlock iPhones and they correctly gave you a replacement iPhone locked to Rogers
Go to Rogers and negotiate with them about their terms for unlocking .They know how long you had the original iphone for assuming it is under contract with them and explain you have a warranty replacement from Apple
