Sound on my iPhone is breaking/sounds like static?

Whenever any sort of sound plays from my iPhone, it has little breaks in the sounds and it sounds like static. I don't know if this is related, but I was microwaving something and standing in front of the microwave (fairly close, I'd say my phone was right in front of the microwave) and checking a text message, and while I was there, a notification came in and that's when I first noticed the breakage. Is this fixable or is it permanent damage?
