16gb or 32 gb air,or should I just go for the 32gb mini with retina display

I am planning to get my 1st ipad, mainly used for study notes and some games but i cant choose between a 16gb air or the 32 gb version?

the 32gb version is kind of expensive,is 16gb enough?

not really going to use it for music

do IOS update take a lot of memory as the IOS 8 is coming soon, surely there will be a lot of updating

I have a 16 gig iPad 2. You can get by on 16 gig (which is really 13 and change after the operating system is installed)

I have a couple of albums, few dozen apps, hundreds of documents and a couple of videos and I have a couple of gig free. (my videos are homemade not downloads so they are smaller than your average downloaded movie)

You can get by on a 16 gig, but since the memory is not expandable, if you have the extra hundred bucks, go for the 32 gig. I personally dont' care for the mini simply because I need an amount of screen real estate and the mini is just too small for me and my eyes.

What I'd suggest is that you go to Best Buy or an Apple store and take both of them for a test drive. See which one is the most comfortable for you.

then shop for the best deal.

Hi JayKhaw95,

It really depends on what you are using it for. I have an iPad 4th Gen 16 GB and it is barely enough for what I use it for. (iMovie, Simulations, etc.) As you were saying if you are just using it for some notes and basic applications, all that I think you should need is a 16GB iPad or iPad Mini. As far as comparing screen size the iPad is 9.7 inches diagonally across, where as the iPad Mini is only 7.9 inches, and this really, yet again, depends on what you are using it for.

I hope this answers your Question.

I have a 16gb iPad 2 and for lots of pics, documents and apps I think it's enough.

Personally, I would go for a 16gab iPad air as i like the screen size and the iPad mini is just to small for me 😟 but if the screen is enough fogo you, go for it! You'll save a few extra bucks.

As a first time buyer i would say that it really depends on you as a user and because the memory is non-expandable, if money is not an issue, I would advise you to go for a 32gig model.

I Hope I answered your question.

Based on what you describe, a 16GB iPad is probably adequate. A 16GB iPad, with the preinstalled apps and iOS, has about 13.5GB of free storage space. iOS 8 will require approx the same storage space as the current iOS 7.x.
