Possibility of fixing scratches on the plastic part of Magic Mouse

I have a magic mouse I bought used and the top plastic was severly scratched by the previous owner's girlfriend's ring. Is there a possibility of removing the scratches? I know for a fact that the plastic is identical to that the first intel iMac was made of, and I have seen someone removing scratch from one of those, but with the touch surface in this mouse will it harm to do so? You can see the scratches and fell it while using the mouse, it isn't like those scratches you see on the apple display mouse it's even worse.

I think i could replace the mouse but is it cover under the 3 year warranty the computer it came with (iMac mid 2011, purchased in Feb. 2012 and expiring at Feb. 2015)?
