columns breaking parallel to the next page - not to next column

I need to write a very long doc that has 2 columns running parallel - 2 languages - but breaking each of the columns to the next page not to next column. ( Imagine one contract or book in 2 languages running next to each other. The languages have different length of sentences and words but should stay parallel. I cannot find the tool to have the text in one language to break at the end of the page to the next page instead of the next column -on the same page - and creating a mess.

Anybody to there with such an experience? thx j

just for the files, why would Apple cut something out of a software ('09 to 5.2.) that made sense earlier. How stupid is that?

I am trying to find solutions by checking Word 4 mac, adobe InDesign and Swift Publisher.

What I don't get is that almost everybody seems to think writing in two columns independently ( or text boxes) is publishing and not word processing.
Writing a two language article , agreement or deal memo is word processing to me 4sure.

Multi Column layout: Select the text and make it 2 or more columns in Format > Text > Layout > Columns

Then follow that with a return which you change back to a single column (just to separate the layouts). Then do the same again, multi-columns followed by another single column layout. You have to do this to get them to separate due to the weirdness that is Pages 5.

Inline Table: Paste a Table into the text. This will flow with the text and break over to new pages, but Pages 5 will no long work after a few pages. The text will disappear in the tables. You don't have to have cell colour or borders showing.
