Most ibooks have digital rights-managment on them which tie them to the iBooks app on a Mac (if it has OS X Mavericks on it) and on iOS devices. Unless they are free ibooks or from the few publishers that don't include DRM on them (e.g. O'Reilly) then you are unlikely to be able to read them on a Kindle (similarly you can't read kindle books from Amazon in the iBooks apps).

If you don't have Mavericks on your Mac then you can find where an ibook is stored on your Mac by right-clicking on it in the Books part of your iTunes library and selecting 'show in finder' on the popup.
