Is it possible to record Widescreen, while holding it Vertically?

Is it possible to record Widescreen, while holding it Vertically?

It's simple to rotate the phone to record it in widescreen I know, but I'd like to know if it would be possible to while holding the phone vertically? or is the camera like |o| when vertical, and so forth when horizontal? By that little picture I mean, Is it limited in regards to holding it vertically? or does it have the same viewable area as widescreen.

If it is possible to record in widescreen while holding it vertically 🙂 please tell me.

Big pet peeve of mine (and many others). I wish Apple would default to landscape recording. I'm so sick of seeing "news" type stores recorded vertical with so much information missing.

Everyone should go to https://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html and ask Apple to change this.

Vertical videos are a no no but it's easier to hold your phone vertically whole recording... not possible at all. Try the app called Horizon. This is the only app you can record on landscape mode while holding your phone vertically.

Yes, an ice skater doing a very rapid spin could probably fool the iPhone into thinking it was horizontal (producing artificial gravity), but then you'd probably get a very blurry video due to the spinning.
