Macbook Pro shows flashing question mark

I erased the software off my macbook pro trying to factory reset it. But now it just shows a flashing file and question mark. I have a new snow leopard 10.6.3 disk but once i put it in the computer the apple comes up for hours and does nothing. Help!

Open Disk Utility on the CD. Select Repair Drive.

If the drive is OK, then select Erase.

The drive should be formatted as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) - Partition Map Scheme: GUID

Now try running the Snow Leopard installer.

Be sure to update fully after installing.

Combo updater: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update v.1.1 - 1.09 GB
