iPhone freezes at updating iOS 7.2.1 with NONFUNCTIONING SLEEP WAKE BUTTON

I had the same problem with an iPhone 5. Just do a hard reset (press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons at the same time for a few seconds), then turn it on as you normally would. It worked for me, and it doesn't seem like I lost any data.

You must have missed the title. OP has a non functioning sleep/wake button.

I didn't miss the title, you must've missed the part where I said the same thing happened to me (including the sleep/wake button not working). However, if you press it and keep it pressed along with the home button, it will do a hard reset on the phone.

Same problem as your phone freezed during the updated and not that you have a non functioning sleep or wake button.

The point is, even if your sleep/wake button is not working because your phone froze, it will still allow you to do a hard reset.

Stick it into DFU mode and then kick it out of DFU and reboot

I have the same issue with my iPhone 4 after upgrading to 7.1.2. When I do a hard reset all I get is the apple symbol trying to reboot and that's where it stays till the battery runs out. Tried again same thing

kl01 I'm afraid not. I had hoped the same.The same thing happens even after the battery had run out. I'm in Aus so I'm off to the Apple store first up this morning . Hopefully they can help because I'm stuffed.

The update hang both my iPhone and iPad. Thankfully I was able to recover by doing a soft reset!

Went to Apple store and the only thing they said could be done is an update of the firmware to get it out of the restart loop which meant wiping out all my data. They said this can happen when updating iOS over wireless and you get a glitch in the wireless coverage, even for a split second. Also to note there is no guarantee that the phone will work after the firmware update. Mine worked and and the bad thing is it's been a while since I backed up - my fault and very silly. 😟

My iPhone 4s got stuck with an apple logo screen for 2 hours now after i tried updating IOS today. Reseting it by Home and sleep/wake button didn't solve the problem. Any ideas what should I do next? Its still on apple logo screen.

Hey guys I sorta have the same issue but instead, when I try to turn on my 4S its shows the silver apple logo and then a few seconds later it instructs me to connect my phone to my itunes. When I do, it gives me this pop up saying this... "Are you sure you want to restore the iPhone “iPhone” to its factory settings? All of your media and other data will be erased, and the newest version of the iPhone software will be installed." I do not want to do this because I dont think ive backed up my into for my phone. Someone please help me out...

I have pressed the home button & lock screen and nothing has happened 😟
