Spinning Wheel in Word and Excel

Over the last couple of days when I use Microsoft Word or Excel, I get the spinning wheel of death for a minute or so when opening, clicking on or editing a document/spreadsheet. Uberly frustrating.

Any ideas what might be going on?

Thank you,

`/era

You need more free space on your boot disk.

Try backing up & then remove some files. You will want to make at least 20GB free, ideally more if you plan on adding more data to the Mac.

When the disk gets full the Mac has a hard time swapping memory & managing files. It can cause it to show the spinning cursor whilst it moves data around.

Post back if you need help with this, you want to avoid deleting system files & look at what you can afford to move off from the user data. Apps can be deleted, but it's best to use uninstallers so that you gain the maximum space back. If you are unsure, ask before deleting.

There is a 'user tip' on how to clean up & find large files, but I cannot find it at the moment, sorry.

I wonder if you need to update a few of the kernal extensions too, but making the disk a little emptier is the priority.
