Are Quicken 2007 files still corrupt in Lion?
There had been a bit of discussion regarding the corruption of files caused by Quicken For Lion, and now it’s time for me to throw a log onto the fire. I have one Mac running Snow Leopard and another running Lion, and here’s what I have discovered.
1. An old Quicken file opened by Quicken For Lion (16.1.4) on a machine running Snow Leopard will be labeled as being corrupted.
2. A new Quicken Save-A-Copy file created by Quicken For Lion (16.1.4) on a machine running Snow Leopard will be labeled as being corrupted.
3. A new Quicken Export/Import file created by Quicken For Lion (16.1.4) on a machine running Snow Leopard will be labeled as being corrupted.
4. An old Quicken file opened by Quicken For Lion (16.1.4) on a machine running Lion will be labeled as being corrupted.
5. A new Quicken Save-A-Copy file created by Quicken For Lion (16.1.4) on a machine running Lion will be labeled as being corrupted.
6. A new Quicken Export/Import file created by Quicken For Lion (16.1.4) on a machine running Lion will be labeled as being corrupted.
7. However, any “corrupt” file created by Quicken For Lion (16.1.4) will open properly in Quicken 2007 (16.0.1) on a machine running Snow Leopard.
Apparently Quicken For Lion is incapable of even creating a NEW file that itself can open properly. All of this means that the files in Quicken For Lion are not really corrupt; the problem is that the program THINKS the files are corrupt when they are, in fact, perfectly fine. It’s this misidentification that is causing all the trouble.
I don’t know if the problem is limited to Lion or if it also applies to Mountain Lion and Mavericks; perhaps someone with experience can comment.
Has anyone come up with a fix after these three years, or is reverting to Snow Leopard the only option?
