tried to install the latest update on my ipad. i get an image of "itunes" with a connecting cord. hasnt changed in three hours. if i turn it off, it goes right back to same image on black background. i am stuck, please help me, thanks

Your iPad wants to be hooked to a computer running iTunes. It's in restore mode and the only way to get it out of it is by using a computer.

The image on your iPad screen is telling you to connect your iPad to your computer and run iTunes on your computer. when you do this you will be prompted through the recovery process.

It's too bad you lost stuff. I would recommend that you back stuff up before the next one. For example, iOS8 will be out sometime this fall. Just in case you experience the same thing again, do a backup before you do the update.

I have the same problem. I have connected my iPad to a computer, I have downloaded and installed iTunes. Yet my iPad still has the same display of icons on a black background saying 'connect to iTunes'. How do I 'run' iTunes?

I am very new to iPads. and ITunes so I may be missing something simple.
