Q: IOS 7.1.2 is buggy, don't update

After updating to 7.1.2 phone started to randomly restart for a couple of hours, then finally it shut off.  Now its stuck in the "Connect to Itunes" and wanting me to restore to factory then restore.  Great.  Thanks.  Luckily I have an iCloud backup this morning, but I'll have to reinstall all the apps.  For what I've seen so far, this update is buggy, install at your own risk.

I updated today and had exactly the same problems I am  having to restore my ipad. Its taken hours out of my day.  I have never had a problem with an update before and will  feel extremely wary of them from now on.

I am having a strange issue after 7.1.2 update as well.  Anyone else experiencing this:  iOS 7.1.2 - problem with notifications with Do Not Disturb enabled.

You may have to wait and take your phone to your service provider and have them fix it, but I hope you backed up your phone on iCloud.

I hooked up my iCloud account to my phone after the factory reset, but now all of my pictures are not on my phone even though I had my photos set to back up on iCloud. Thank you Apple for the worst Fourth of July recorded in my book.

Works fine for me and on the other 5 devices in my house, so I'm not sure why I should heed your advice...

Yep, there is something with this update. Make sure you backup before trying...

    iPad air, success, no issues

iPhone 5S, stuck, wait... hard reboot, all fine now

iPad 3 Retina Display. Bricked, need to connect to iTunes and restore. All information lost.

How is it possible that all information is lost? Apple gives you several ways to back up the contents of your phone. If you didn't use any of them you created the problem.

There are ways that you can retrieve your infomation if your phone or device has the 7.1.2 update issue, the biggest one is icloud.  But I would advise people to make sure they manually back up their date first before updating to 7.1.2

I also have had problems with this update:

    - started with 'connect to iTunes'

    - Factory restore was necessary, wiping everything from my phone (was able to retrieve 'most' things via icloud and work email server).

    - Constant issues around using iMessage.

This is the only update I have ever felt the need to login and share my experiences.  I would avoid this update, and wait until apple has a better patch or something not as buggy.

*** If you are going to download this update, as it has been mentioned in other posts on here .... please do a "Manual Backup" of your iphone before you install the update.   That would have saved me several hours of work!!  ****

Yes, problems here too with this update.  I sort of followed Aezano's instructions, which didn't exactly work but somehow my iPhone eventually just started working.  That was after I had pressed the Sleep/wake and Home buttons in various combinations many times. Seemed I had nothing to lose.  And then I disconnected the iPhone from my computer and closed iTunes down.   And for now it appears to be working without me having to factory restore.  Not yet anyway, but I don't have much faith in it.  I won't be updating my iPad.  And will rethink buying that new iPhone when they're released.  It's poor that there is no proper assistance from Apple.

The update length depends on your internet connection i would advise to do this in a wi-fi connection or 4G, so that you won't have any data loss.

Do a reset, press power and home button all together until you see an apple logo.

If every time you reset it appears a logo of iTunes it means the device is in recovery mode and the update wasn't installed properly.

to fix that please follow the steps i provided on the 1st page.

Here you have some articles for you - Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings

If you have any problem downloading the update just contact applecare cause an exception is made when its about the recent updates, even if you are out of phone support and warranty of apple.
