Q: IOS 7.1.2 is buggy, don't update

After updating to 7.1.2 phone started to randomly restart for a couple of hours, then finally it shut off.  Now its stuck in the "Connect to Itunes" and wanting me to restore to factory then restore.  Great.  Thanks.  Luckily I have an iCloud backup this morning, but I'll have to reinstall all the apps.  For what I've seen so far, this update is buggy, install at your own risk.

The last two updates have caused problems with my iPhone 5. After the update just prior to 7.1.2, I started having problems with Safari. It just shuts down randomly, or freezes, requiring a complete phone reboot. When I updated to 7.1.2, I lost 3/4 of my photos. I actually didn't lose them, technically. They still take up storage space, but they are black. I tried to restore the phone, but it doesn't work. Sync doesn't work either. I am looking forward to my upgrade date.

I just updated my 4 & Itunes no longer recognizes my phone, I can't sync at all. I have rebooted the phone multiple times, the pc multiple times. I have gone into device manager & started & restarted the Apple Mobile Device Support a few times. My phone will show up in the lower right side of my desktop with an X next to it. If I click, or double click on that picture it disappears. I am using Windows 8.

This started the minute I updated to 7.1.2

I guess you'll need to get your phone in DFU mode and hope iTunes will see it like that.

You don't happen to know someone with a Mac, to see if the phone is recognised there?

Unforanlty i have the same problem as you after updating to IOS 7.1.2 after week , when i normally click on sleep"lock" button its hang or crash and i need to restart it by click at main button and lock button at once in order to open it! .. i do Factory reset on Sunday with a fresh copy of  IOS 7.1.2 by iTunes , its for about 2 days works good , until yesterday the problem return back after downloading some apps!

if i want it to stay open with crash i should not lock it (auto- lock(never))!! that's weird!

    what Can i do ?

Ok so many smart computer nerds, and I don't pretend to be one but this ios7 downloaded as soon as I turned my iPad mini on, it did this automatically and I didn't know I had to back up so it lost all my photos from my oversees trip. Some say there's a way to get them back, so how or have they gone to the cloud never to be found again?

If you didn't back them up, there is nowhere to recover them from. Some third-party apps claim to be able to recover them from the inner files of the i-device, but they may or may not be successful, and they do take your money, so beware. Backups are your best bet, but you did not do this, so consider it a hard lesson.

For me when I restore ios 7.1.2 on iphone 4 , it was indeed fast ,.

After two or three months , i keep getting an issue , during a video or something , it keeps saying slide to power off

and also sometimes it will sleep/wake itself

I tought it was a power button issue , turned out to be an OS issue when I was able to go to DFU Normally

    Restored the phone fixed it

BTW after a while , problem presisted from once a while , to EVERYTHIME

    Hi Again,

Now that iOS 8 has been released, and has thrown up a new set of problems, and now that 8.0.1 has been put out, causing people's iDevices to become useless hunks of metal and plastic - an update so monumentally screwed-up, that Apple has actually recalled it and removed it, to STOP Apple users from downloading it - maybe the Clever Clogs people in this Forum thread who kept on telling me that "The updates are flawless. The problem always lies with the user, their iDevice and the Apps on their iDevice, because they are not installing the updates properly" will be eating large chunks of humble pie.

Clearly, the iOS updates aren't perfect, flawless, and always going to work, are they?! Clearly, Apple does release updates that DON'T DO WHAT THEY'RE SUPPOSED TOO!

There's a lesson to be learnt here, I think: having a Level rating higher than 5, doesn't make you the smartest people in the Forums!

Now, what was that about Apple Updates always being perfect?!

I don't remember anyone ever saying that, anywhere.
