Q: Ical Tags (colours) are useless

The new Mavericks colour system in iCal is hopeless.

Those stupid little dots are too hard to see.

Any way I can get back the old colour system that we had back in the good old days ?

So Apple thinks it's craeting a "work of art" or something, just too bad that users loose all their functionality.

iCal has no tags, never did have any tags.

The 'good old days' are in your imagination.

Please stop telling us what you think Apple is thinking, it is tiresome.

COLOURS which Apple refer to as TAGS in Mavericks.

Not nearly as tiresome as your pointless responces. Just DONT comment on my posts.

And if you don't like them then don't read them.

Don't presume to tell me what to do.

iCal NEVER had what you want, so it can't be put back.

You have no idea what you are talking about.

    Clear?

iCal was discontinued two OS X versions ago, and this is the Mavericks forum. If that's not the OS X version you're using, which is it? Your question can be relocated to the appropriate forum if you wish.

Are you asking about the Calendar app?

Well, it's called iCal when I am on iCloud and it's Calendar on this Mac at least.  But they both look yhje same with these silly little coloured dots.

I think the origional comment applies to both does it not ?

My iCloud version is called Calendars. What OS are you using as John Galt asked?

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

I still don't understand, which is the reason for asking for a more thorough description of what's going on. Both the iCloud and OS X versions of the Calendar app are called Calendar. So is the iOS version for that matter.

If you are really using iCal something else is going on, and suggests an incomplete or improper Mavericks installation. If you are certain you're using Mavericks, post a screenshot of what you're describing. At least some more understanding of the problems will result.

From Writing an effective Apple Support Communities question:

    Screenshots (Mac):

To take a screenshot hold ⌘ Shift 4 to create a selection crosshair. Click and hold while you drag the crosshair over the area you wish to capture and then release the mouse or trackpad. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This will deposit a screenshot named "Screen Shot...." followed by a date and time on your Desktop.

When you post your response, click the "camera" icon above the text field:

    ccc1d9a6bbfa2bcd11f062bbf381272e.png

This will display a dialog box which enables you to choose the screenshot file (remember it's on your Desktop) and click the Insert Image button.

⌘ Shift 4 and then pressing the space bar captures the frontmost window.

⌘ Shift 3 captures the entire screen.

Don't capture or upload any information you consider personal. To edit an existing screenshot, read How to edit a screenshot.

Drag the screenshot to the Trash after you post your reply.

Screenshots (iPhone / iPad / iPod):

To take a screenshot press both the Home and Sleep / Wake buttons simultaneously. You will hear a "camera shutter" sound. This action takes a photograph of your iOS device's screen and places it in your Camera Roll.

If you use iCloud's Photo Stream feature, that picture will automatically appear in iPhoto on your Mac. From there, you can export it to your Desktop and upload it here using the same instructions above.

If you don't use iPhoto or iCloud's Photo Stream, email the picture to yourself or find some other way to get the photo on your Mac, since the Insert Image feature doesn't appear on iOS devices.

Ahh that's obviously where I got confused because I jumped from Snow Leopard to Mavericks.  iCal to Calendar ?

Anyway what it's called is not the issue...

The issue for me is the usability of those little coloured dots (called tabs in finder) as apposed to the way colours used to work.

It was way more uasable before for me at least.

I send Apple feedback wherever I can but some apps dont give that option so have to go to the feedback site.  Bit laborious..

And lets face it Apple have shown already the direction they are going and from what I have heard have taken it way further in Yosemite.

Will look pretty but wont be usable...  Had feedback on Yosemite from several users and they are horrified.

Spoke to a bunch of users now trapped in Mavericks and they ALL hate it.

Sorry Eric I made a mistake there.  It is Calendar.  See my post to John.
