my macbook pro doesn't eject cd's, what should i do?

I have just burnt photo's to a cd-r and went to eject it but it didn't come out. It makes a whirring noise then stops.

The same thing happened when I watched a movie, it didn't eject. When I tried it in the morning it came out.
