80GB iPod vs 60GB iPod

I just purchased my 60GB iPod, and, surprise!! the new 80GB has been launched at market!! A first question is: what is the technical difference between 80GB and 60GB models, in addition to hard disk space? In fact 60GB does not appear in the web market. Now the another question is: May I have the same advantages in my 60GB iPpod than 80GB Ipod? A final question, May I use Itunes 7 in my 60GB Ipod, and, will Apple do something to benefit 60GB iPod users

I don't know the answers to all of the previouse person's questions. However, I do know that you can use the latest iTunes on any iPod model (I have a mini). The truth is that there are probably no technical differences between the 80GB and the 60 GB; when they update the larger model of a line but leave the smaller, the larger is still part of the same line, so there are no major differences. The 60 can more than likely do everything that the 80 can, it just has less hard disk space. And no, Apple probably won't do anything to benefit 60GB iPod users because i recieved my mini shortly before it was discontinued and replaced with the nano, and they did nothing.

5.0 generation iPods updated with 1.2 have the quick scroll feature, gapless playback, game support, 640x480 video resolution, iTS movies, new brightness control.

5.5 generation iPods offer all of the above, plus a 60% brighter display, longer battery life (3.5 video hours for 30GB, 6.5 video hours for 80GB), more storage for the high end model (80GB vs 60GB), new ear buds and the search-by-letter enhancement.

He I bought the 60 ipod a month ago because i wanted
the ipod the most space and the 80 came out and its
cheaper! I also bought the 2 year warranty on my
ipod. Is there any way i return my 60gb and get the
80 with the old warranty included?

If you bought it from Apple directly there is a 14 day return policy. Most other retailers have a 30 day return policy. If you are beyond those, I would say the answer is NO. Buying the warranty does not entitle you to upgrade. I guess you could sell it on Ebay and buy a new one. The 2 year warranty isn't transferable to the new unit if you have already registered it with Apple Care.

A friend of mine was one day past his return period and basically at this point is stuck with the older unit short of selling it on Ebay. After checking out my 80 Gig he is happy with it. He didn't feel the brighter display was enough to make it worth his while anyway. He of course would LOVE to have the battery life. I have really enjoyed the battery life on the 80gig vs the older 30 gig big time.

search by letter option is available in the new
software if updated your 5th gen ipod.

The letter indexing is avaliable when you scroll quickly, but the search feature is not available even if you upgrade your existing iPod to version 1.2. Thread after thread about this exist. I also know this to be true because I have both the newer model and the older model that was updated. There is no search feature on the updated older model.
