iTunes Podcast Lost Old Episodes

Hi Guys,

My podcast is at: https://itunes.apple.com/au/podcast/tips-for-lawyers/id875246560?mt=2

My Feed is at: http://www.tipsforlawyers.com/feed/podcast

Episodes were appearing fine and all was well with the world. However, I redirected my main blog feed to Feedburner without realising that it would affect the podcast. Shortly after I did that, my first 7 episodes disappeared and have never come back. I have since cancelled that feed redirect, but the old episodes remain gone in iTunes.

I've also noticed that the title of the Podcast in iTunes now is not the same as the one in my feed.

My subscription via RSS works fine, so it seems to be an iTunes issue where iTunes is not picking up my feed for some reason.

Anybody got any thoughts on a solution here?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

iTunes is looking for a feed at http://feeds.feedburner.com/TipsForLawyers and not finding it - there is no file at that address. The feed at the address you give is fine, but you will need to redirect back to it. You say you redirected - if you did that using the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag then that redirect is permanent - removing the tag has no effect.

You are going to have to place a feed at the URL I give above and then add the tag to it - the full process is described here, together with what to do if you cannot gain access to the feed:

Start by going to the iTunes Store within iTunes. Click on the 'Subscribe' button beneath the image. Go to the Podcasts section of your library where you should now see the podcast. It's probably best to go into List view. Control-click (Mac) or right-click (Windows) on the name of the podcast (not one of the episodes) and choose 'Copy Podcast URL'. The URL will be placed in the clipboard.

You are best not to use feedburner for your feed - and as you are hosting with libsyn already - you are best to use the libsyn feed for your podcast.

Here is a tutorial on how to redirect your feedburner feed to your libsyn feed.

This feed will be more reliable then your wordpress managed feed. There is no reason to manage your feed on wordpress when hosting on libsyn.

In your libsyn account - go to destinations - and then click edit for libsyn classic feed - and then fill in the info there.

Make sure when uploading new episodes to libsyn you add in the title and description when publishing.

Here is a tutorial on publishing from libsyn to your wordpress blog as well.

Again if you want the least amount of issues with your feed in iTunes - use your libsyn feed.
