Thank you Ralf Landry 1 & K Shaffer re RAM Upgrade/Mavericks

RAM upgrade of MacBook 13 inch (early 2009 model)

Thank you Ralf Landry 1 and K Shaffer for the RAM upgrade information and great help.

I received the 6.0 Gb memory today from OWC Macsales.

Easy to install and has improved the performance of my MacBook substantially.

I keep getting prompted by app store to install OSX Mavericks 10.9.4 The size of the file states 5.32 Gb, does the file take up 5.32 gb on the hard drive or memory or a bit on each?

I have just solved my last problem which needed more memory as you guys know.

Is it worthwhile upgrading to Mavericks or will it slow my MacBook down again?

I am currently running 10.8.5 with 6.00Gb memory installed and 66 Gb HD space free.

Mavericks installer take up 5.32GB HDD space.

I've been using Mavericks on late 2008 MacBook(2GHz core 2 duo) with 8GB memory without slowing the machine as far as I feel.

I think it's worth upgrading your MacBook to Mavericks.

Mavericks is even better at memory mangagement. I suggest you first backup your Mountain Lion install as a clone then upgrade to Mavericks. If you are unhappy with the upgrade, simply restore the clone.
