Jul 21, 2014 12:31 PM in response to Tom Wolskyby nordheide,Of course. But we do not encode DVD in SD.
Take a look for a 2 hrs Blu-ray in mpg2 or h264 - that will be a big difference in quality.
But that is not the point. Let us forget that bug and let us make Bluray only in mpg2. o.k.?

Jul 21, 2014 12:16 PM in response to nordheideby Tom Wolsky,I Don't care about your religious beliefs but I don't come here to be insulted by people like you. I just passed on some information. It's not a great solution, but it's not anywhere near as bad as the alternative.

Jul 21, 2014 2:44 PM in response to MyHobbyPaysby ronquandary,I, as well, have the same problem. I do not have compressor. As a workaround I took the master file into another program and produced an ISO file.
Then using the disk utility I tried to burn it to the Blu-ray. Use this technique with another software which is Windows-based. It has always worked in the past.
I seem not to be able to burn a Blu-ray using the disk utility as I have in the past. This is a very very very big problem for me as well as anyone else too.

AFAIK, Disk Utility has never been able to burn a Blu Ray disk from a disk image. A DVD, yes,

Jul 21, 2014 4:24 PM in response to Russ Hby Daniel Goyette,Just passing by to see if something new .... well nothing found to solve this on my side either.
I have just submit a review of Compressor 4.1.2 on Mac Apps Store about the Blu-ray bug.
I am sure Apple will notice this have become a serious error in release of Compressor 4.1.2.

Jul 21, 2014 4:32 PM in response to Daniel Goyetteby films4pod,Just tried with Toast 11.1 and was successful by changing default H.264 encoding to MPEG-2 on 90 minute film. Have not looked at results for quality but will report.

I restate ...I take the master file into another program and produce an ISO file.
then I go about it this way....
http://kb.photodex.com/960/burning-dvd-blu-ray-discs-from-proshow-web/
I have burnt ISO files to Blu-ray just fine for quite a few years...this way.
but it didn't work this time with an hour and 13 minute video... Photodex Producer is just not made for this volume of video....

Jul 22, 2014 1:13 AM in response to evdhby evdh,I also tried to reinstall the previous version of Compressor (4.1.1) via TimeMachine (copied the previous version to my DeskTop) but same problem.
For a movie of 2 houres & 10 min I still get a .264 file of 1.69GB, but the estimated size is 20GB. Small difference...So still working via Adobe Encore :-(

Jul 22, 2014 12:04 PM in response to evdhby johnri99,I have been having the same problem with FCP 10.1.2 but in my case it seems related to certain clips in a movie. It started with a 1h20m movie when if got the burning error message. Taking the sub clips out and trying to burn them one by one gave the same problem with just one clip of about 40 min. I can see no issues with the media used in that clip, which is effectively identical to others created in exactly the same way from the same source (a Sanyo camcorder)
I have found a workaround by using creating an intermediate master file from FCP and then using Compressor 4.1. Initially trying to burn straight to disk didn't seem to work but writing to hard disk and then burning to disk using Disk Utility has worked a couple of times now and the quality is good.
Hope this helps somebody and that Apple get their act together

Jul 22, 2014 7:43 PM in response to MyHobbyPaysby Gary Cox1,Desperate for anything I purchased Toast 11 Pro and was able to successfully burn a 41 minute Blue Ray CD using mpeg-2. I'm not sure the quality is perhaps what it was with compressor but at least I have a blue ray disk. I am curious though what settings I should have when I export to disk fro Final Cut Pro so that I make sure I have the maximum quality and I'll try it again...

There are no MPEG2 Blu Ray settings for FCP X export – only MPEG for DVD, and a bit rate of between 8 and 9 Mbper.
Have you tried exporting to a disk image with Blu Ray settings? If it encodes successfully, the bit rate will be 30-35 Mbps.

Jul 22, 2014 8:17 PM in response to Russ Hby Gary Cox1,I was going to try exporting to an Apple ProRes 422 HQ and see if I can burn with Toast 11. I admit I don't really know what I'm doing when it comes to exporting in all the formats or what selections to make... Gary
