Aug 11, 2014 10:20 PM in response to MyHobbyPaysby blarney33,I am having the same problem with my Mac Pro 3,1 not making a Blu-Ray or a Blu-Ray Image with latest versions of FCPX and Compressor. I am also getting the message "Either the video file or the audio were not in a valid format".
I found that if I copy the project to my 27" iMac 11,3 it is able to make a Blu-Ray image that I can copy back to my Mac Pro and make a Blu-Ray disk successfully using Disk Utility. I am curious because I haven't seen what model everyone that is experiencing this problem has. It may be easier for Apple to fix the problem if by some coincidence it was only happening on certain generations of Mac Pros. I have a case open with Apple and will report any info I can get to help resolve the issue.
Cheers

Aug 11, 2014 10:43 PM in response to blarney33by blarney33,...also to add to the above, the 27"iMac and the Mac Pro were updated to the latest versions on the same day and run the same OSX 10.9.4.

Aug 13, 2014 11:14 AM in response to MAC4LIFE!by jjmktg,I have been on the line with Apple for the past three days attempting all sorts of things including a reinstall. Was told moments ago my issue would be sent up to engineering. Quite obvious the guy in Advanced has no idea there has even been an issue. He kept telling me what I was experiencing had him baffled. Geeze.

Aug 13, 2014 8:31 PM in response to nordheideby blarney33,I just tried the process of making the image on my iMac and this time it failed just like it does on the Mac Pro... I'm stumped because nothing has been updated on the iMac since this problem began.
I am losing patience with Apple on this one and wish they would just post an update that rolls it back to the previous working version until they get the bugs worked out of this one. I know I'm not the only one with upset customers because Apple broke my workflow and I am unable to provide them with a Blu-Ray yet...

Aug 15, 2014 11:38 PM in response to onedigitalby janderson_99,Is there a version of that fix if you are not using Compressor? I am trying to export to blu ray directly out of FCP. Can I use a similar tweak to try it with FCP?

Aug 15, 2014 11:45 PM in response to janderson_99by onedigital,Hi, I don't think you can because you have no control over choosing mpeg2 or h264, and this seems to be where the problem lies, for me anyway. The only way I have managed is to follow the steps I have mentioned.

Aug 16, 2014 6:05 PM in response to MyHobbyPaysby TrentFromPicktown,I've spent hours and hours reading everyones responses ( and days and days trying to replicate them), with toast and compressor etc. etc. solutions which I'm sure might work for some. Bottom line is until they fix this you need to revert to an older version of FCPX before the upgrade is made. 10.1.1 is still good. I was afraid to put another version on my mac so I bought a cheap mac mini and just spitted out a 2 hour 5 minute blu-ray. (took 12 hours to do, but it's crystal clear, no toast 11, 12 compression artifcacting). If someone has a file they need output to a bluray I can help you. Put the file on an ftp site and I'll put it on a bluray for you. Just pay me shipping charges. This is crap that it's not fixed yet, and I feel your pain. Let me help you.

Aug 18, 2014 6:35 AM in response to MyHobbyPaysby RonanVA,Exact same issue - my son has worked on a one hour documentary for three months now and his deadline for submission was Saturday, but could not burn the Blu-ray. So disappointing - very annoyed that Apple have not even commented. Has anybody had success using Toast from an FCPX master file? Reviews are variable and can be quite negative. In our case, CreateDisc won't even generate the Blu-ray disk files which looked like the most promising export path to Toast.
A suggestion - Apple may feel more urgency if we place reviews on the FCPX page on the app store, rather than just submitting feedback to support. There are 82 reviews for the current version and a four star rating. Ten reviews noting the 10.1.2 issues might get their attention. Larry Jordan responded to me Sunday (wow! - if only Apple did that) indicating he believed Apple knew about the problem. I still want to see it listed somewhere as a known issue with a possible ETA - why? Because this is forcing Apple's customers with deadlines to potentially spend money on other products.

Aug 18, 2014 7:09 AM in response to RonanVAby Russ H,If you have Compressor, one possibility might be to create a Blu Ray compliant disk, building from an MPEG2 preset. (The DVD preset, for example.) In the General tab, select Blu Ray for Stream usage. Boost the bit rate into the 20-25 mbps range. ensue that the Dolby Digital preset in included in the job.
If interested in this approach, I'd suggest a test on a short section of the movie to see whether it works to your son's satisfaction.
A fuller explanation of this was posted by someone else within the past month, but I was unable to locate it with search.
