Q: Blu-Ray burning error after Final Cut Pro 10.1.2 update.

I upgraded Final Cut Pro X to 10.1.2  I can no longer burn blu-ray.  I get an error message "Either the video file or the audio file were an invalid format".  I get the same message sharing through Final Cut or through Compressor.  Please help!

    Thanks Glenn, for the update.

We burnt a 6 minute BRD that works great, but it was 6 minutes. Now we are in the process of producing a full length BRD (about 100+ minutes, these are getting the error).

I have tried to contact support. Through phone, they tried to get me to sign up for tech support for my Macs. Which is not the Mac's problem. It's their software that's malfunctioning.

I also found chat through their store, which is a separate entity for shopping support only and directed me to Compressor troubleshooting pages.

Will update if anything works. Going to update everything now including Maverick.

Try this: open Create Disk and go to File>Recent. Click the last job action it tried to perform where the handoff failed.

To your earlier question about rolling back to an earlier version, bear in mind that any FCP X libraries that were updated will not open in the updated version.

I've tried a new user account.  Still get the error.  Actually this is a brand new machine as of today with a fresh install of FCPX and compressor.  The only way I can get this to work is to delete all the music imported from iTunes. I can get the Bluray to burn this way.  I've tried disk image too and that doesn't work for me. I never had this problem in my work flow until the update to 10.1.2.  DVD's burn fine.

Try the Create DisK suggestion I made one reply earlier.

How do we go about reporting this to Apple?  I need this fixed A.  How does this happen?  It worked without a hitch before the update.

From the Final Cut Pro drop-down, choose Provide Final Cut Pro Feedback.

Not everyone is having this problem, but it's obviously very real and update-related. The challenge is to determine what the users who so have problems with this update have in common.

    Hello Russ,

Using 10.1.2 the Recents list is no longer an option in Create Disc. It's simply not there on mine.

Can you confirm this on your system please?

Al, You are absolutely right. It's been neutered! (They must have had a lot of confidence that the handoff was no longer going to be an issue.)

Apologies to everyone for the obsolete advice. I should have checked,

    Are you running 10.1.2?

What is your system configuration? Do you have systems backups?

How is FCP X set up…in other words, where do you store your libraries and media?

Once more I'd like to confirm that you cannot make a disk image to your computer. I have been able to make Blu-ray disk images without failure. Also please confirm that you're not running any other software while the media is being encoded and that Prevent AppNap has been checked on.

I assume that Alchroma's workaround is not helping you.

On a tangental note, does anyone know how to play a Blu-ray disk image on a Mac? Is there any, preferably free, software that will do that?

    Thanks.

There are several products like Macgo that appear to be the same thing (underlying code), but  branded and priced differently. I've tried a few free versions and found they didn't simulate the menu but only played the the mts files in the Streams folder. (VLC could do that.) Maybe I was overlooking something,

Same problem. Apple wants me to buy customer support for helping and they said they did not here about that problem before!

But, for me every thing works fine before 10.1.2.

The HD EXCAM - Bug was a problem before that i had have. It took months to be solved!

    I am angry!

I have not tried to create an image.  I am out of town and won't be able to do so until next week.
