when syncing iPhone - iTunes claims device is over capacity

When trying to sync my iPhone in iTunes after updating to IOS 7.1.2, I get the message that my device is "over capacity". I'm stuck in step 7 - "waiting for changes to be applied". The phone showed that it had over 12 gigabytes of space available right after the update. I've already tried stopping the sync, turning off the iPhone completely, turning off my computer & restarting the sync process. Has anyone else experienced this problem &/or found a solution for the problem.

I had this problem after updating to iOS 7.1.2. I thought it was very strange that the device could be 25.3 GB over capacity since it is a 32 GB device with only a dozen or so apps.

After waiting 45 minutes for the sync to complete, everything seems to be OK again, but it sure took a long time.

LONGEST SYNC EVER.

I have this problem too since I upgraded the software.

What I should do to fix this bug?

I've tried also to erese all music and reinstall the software but iTunes won't allow me to do so.

basically I'm stuck.

What should I do?
