I would like to connect my Tascam 8-track digital recorder to the iMac. The Tascam stereo output is L/R RCA jacks. Is there a chord that is Stereo L/R RCA male jacks on one end and a USB or Thunderbolt jack on the other side?

RCA connectors are Analog, not Digital. Unless your Tascam actually has a digital out you can only connect in this fashion.

My Tascam is digital with a mini usb-type of female port. If that is an "out" port, can I simply plug it into the iMac (with a full-size USB chord at the other end?
You'll need to provide some detail, what type of digital connection is it (and no, you can't just buy a whatever it is to USB cable).
Get out your manual and look it up.
Actually, there seem to be a solution! It's the Behringer UCA-202, a small $30 device that connects a L/R input RCA jacks and outputs to a USB chord (and into the iMac)!
I am getting tired of chasing you around the forum. The Behringer is a piece of junk, don't get it.
Stick to one thread, this behaviour is ridiculous!
It also would not hurt for someone with "teacher" in their screen name to remember that one uses a cord, not a chord, to connect electronic devices.
Ah but if you string the cord tightly enough and pluck it you're on the way to a chord 🙂 just add another channel

The Behringer isn't exactly junk, but considering (as I'm sure Csound1 did) NYCteacherR's comments in another of his discussions here about wanting high quality audio, it isn't a good choice.
And has been mentioned in several of these discussions, we really need specifics to help him much. That includes the model of the iMac, info or at least the model number of the Tascam recorder, what other equipment might be involved (like mixers or mics), & what specifically he is most interested in recording.
For example, there isn't much point in investing in a high end digital to analog interface if the source material isn't high quality to begin with.
I may have aimed a little low when I called it junk, maybe it's not, but it's in the category just above.

None of us are moderators -- they seldom post anything but when they do you will know it because they have special avatars nobody else can use. As for the "unhelpful" remark, please read the "How to write a good question" info that appears on the page where you type the summary of your question. That explains the importance of including details in your summary -- without them we have no way of knowing what might be helpful & what would just waste our time & yours, or even cause you needless expense or problems with your Mac.
Also, please be aware that even though you asked the question, in the future other users looking for similar answers may read this discussion, so by providing enough info for anyone to tell if what is discussed here is relevant to them, you can help other users too.
